I've been loving you
Too long, to stop now
You were tied
And you want to be free
My love is grown stronger
As you become a habit to me
Ooo, been loving you, too long
I don't wanna stop, now
Oh, no
With you my life
Has been so wonderful
I can't stop, now
You were tied
And your love is growing cold
My love is going stronger
As our affair, affair, grow old
I've been loving you, oh too long, long
To stop now
Ooh, ooh-oh
I've been loving you-ooo-ooo
A l'il too longer on
I don't wanna stop it, now
Ooh, ooh
Don't make me stop, then
Ooh, beggin' you
Down on my knees
Please don't make me come beg
Lord! I love you, I love you!
With all my heart
And I can't stop, now
Please!
Please!
Please!
Please, don't
FADES-
Don't make me stop loving
All my heart and soul
Crying
I'm in love
Ooo, given you too much.

Song Status
Redding and soul balladeer "Iceman" Butler were hanging out in Redding's hotel room in Buffalo, New York, after a gig when Butler sang a half-finished song he had been working on. "Hey, man, that's a smash," Redding said. "Let me go mess around with it. Maybe I'll come up with something." Sure enough, "I've Been Loving You Too Long" became Redding's first Top Forty hit, in June 1965. And when Redding performed a scorching drawn-out version at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967, the single made the transition from hit to legend.
